Code of Conduct

Adopted February 27, 2008

 

 

DITA adopts the following Code of Conduct to promote high ethical and moral standards of professional conduct in the defoamer industry. Each member of the Association agrees to abide by this Code of Conduct. The Association intends that this Code of Conduct be interpreted reasonably, fairly, and objectively.

I. PRINCIPLES OF CONDUCT

The following Principles of Conduct are goals of professional conduct for all Association members. All members of the DITA pledge:

  1. A.   Always be guided by a spirit of justice, honor, and fairness within their communities and in all dealings with other members of the defoamer industry and with associated industries.
  2. II. RULES OF CONDUCT

    These Rules of Conduct provide specific standards of acceptable professional conduct for all members of the Association.

    1. A.   All products sold are in compliance with chemical inventory requirements of the country to which the product is shipped.
      1. B.    All products sold for food processing are manufactured with food grade ingredients and by a process in compliance with good manufacturing practices (21 CFR Part 110).  All products sold for use in manufacture of food packaging materials shall be of purity suitable for intended use as prescribed by 21 CFR 174.5. 
        1. C.    All ingredients in products promoted or recommended for specific food processing application are in compliance with a permissive regulation in 21 CFR Part 172, 182 and 184 or consistent with limitations in a listing in 173.340 or consistent with an approved food contact notification, GRAS notification or threshold of regulation submission, or valid prior sanction or well documented independent GRAS determination; and
          1. D.   All ingredients in products promoted or recommended for specific use in food contact materials are in compliance with a permissive regulation in 21 CFR 174-178, 182, 184, 186 or consistent with an approved food contact notification, GRAS notification or threshold of regulation submission, or valid prior sanction or well documented independent GRAS determination
          2. These Rules of Conduct are enforceable by the Association under the procedures provided in Article III, Section 6 of the ÒBylaws of Defoamer Industry Trade AssociationÓ.  [ref: Art III, Section 6.  Termination of Membership: The Board of Directors, by affirmative vote of a majority of all of the members of the Board, may suspend or expel a member for cause, and may, by majority vote of those present at any regularly constituted meeting, terminate the membership of any member who becomes ineligible for membership.]

             

            Feb. 27, 2008: A motion was presented and approved by the BOD to adopt the DITA COC with an agreement that a member company has the option of substituting their company code of conduct/code of ethics in place of DITAÕs COC, if said substitute is approved by the EC: ÒTo adopt the COC, going into effect on April 1, 2008.  However, if a company does not submit an alternative code by April 1, 2008, member company is obliged to comply with DITAÕs COC.ÓNovember 15, 2007
